As a marketer, brand man and part-time entrepreneur, I'm always on the lookout for ideas and stories that can inspire my work. Here's a soupçon of some of the most interesting one's I've read recently.
A study conducted just before the recent hoo-ha, shows that while a service like FB is clearly integrated into our lives, it is the least worthy compared to others. Also of interest is the apparent difficulty (disconnect?) in placing a value on the 'well-being' created by digital services. I wonder how much of that is captured in the $500Bn valuation of FB?

Today, Google launches the biggest revamp of Gmail in years. Plenty of things to make our lives easier. Outlook, are you listening? 🤔
In an earlier article, I listed a link about how a challenge for marketers is to convince people they have skills that sit beyond the conventional skillset. Here's a complementary one about how people can use skills learned to pursue buried dreams or find a new talent in life.
Authenticity and provenance are arguably more important to so-called luxury brands than any other kind of brand. Pushing craftmanship and metier angles without the former, and that includes being transparent about it, amounts to blatant dishonesty. They should be called out for cheating and lying.
22 April was Earth Day. Lest we all forget: Around 90% of the billions and billions of tons of plastic we humans have generated so far, will not decompose for at least 500 years - polluting our food, water and air. We ALL need to take personal responsibility for dealing with this. It's not our neighbour's problem, the council's, the manufacturers or the government's. It is OUR problem. Own it.
